We work in the industry of caring for people, and that also extends into caring for the community around us. Whether that means the people within the community who we help directly, or the wider community as a whole. We are always looking for ways in which we can help to give back.
That is exactly why we have started a new project that shall be funded by Lifestyle by Homecare Services within Newtons of Bury coworking hub. Currently, our Bury office is based out of Newtons and we believe that it would be the perfect space to build a community driven hub that can be accessed by all.
So, what is the plan?
We have revamped the front room of Newtons after the coworking was moved further into the building and is now within The Coach House. Looking to create a more accessible community friendly space for anyone who wishes to get involved and utilise the space. Now you may be wondering what exactly is a community hub and can you use it?
What is a community hub?
A community hub is a building or space that can be openly accessed by the local community and provides services that the local community wants or needs. Decisions about how the hub is run or managed generally come from within the local community, which is also why we have teamed up with The Derby High School!
Over the summer period, we are excited for the opportunity to have some of the students from Derby High School getting involved with the interior design of the new hub. They will be pioneering the space into a true community hub and keeping that local community spirit alive! We met with Lyn Provoost from Derby High to discuss the space and teaming up for it’s development.
If you are wondering whether or not you would have access to the community hub, it will be open for all local groups and communities to book for use. Whether you are part of a start-up group, a local volunteer group, yoga/activity groups or many many more. If you are a part of the local community, you are welcome at the new Lifestyle Community Hub!
When will the space be open?
The space is currently under construction and whilst some impressive foundations have already been laid there is still a ways to go until it is ready for action. The aim is for the hub to be up and running before the end of the year, we welcome all to come and see the space so that you can get a feel for what we have created!
We will be keeping you updated over the coming months to keep you informed about how far along the journey we are! So far we have had help from T W renovations in getting a kitchenette sorted as well as adding some storage, seating and new flooring foundations. We are so excited to share the results with you!
